How to Join an Organization
When a colleague invites you to their Notehouse organization, you’ll receive an invitation email with a Join Team button.
Use this invitation email to complete your setup. Do not sign up for a separate individual account if you are trying to join an existing organization.
Once setup is complete, you can log in and begin working with your assigned clients based on the role and permissions set by your Administrator or Owner.

Important: Do Not Create a Separate Account
If you are trying to join an existing Notehouse organization, do not sign up for a separate individual account.
You must use the invitation email sent by your Administrator or Owner to join your organization. This connects your login to the correct organization, billing setup, role, and permissions. Do not create another new account. Wait for your organization invitation and complete setup using the Join Team button in that email.
Creating your own individual account will prevent your Administrator or Owner from inviting you to the correct organization with that same email address. If this happens, the individual account must be deleted before you can be invited to join the organization.
Receiving an Invitation
When you’re invited to Notehouse, you’ll receive an email with:
- The organization you’re joining
- A link to complete your account setup
- Temporary login details
Click Join Team in the invitation email to begin, then follow the instructions in the new window.
Temporary passwords expire after 7 days and can only be used through the invitation link in your email. Do not try to log in from the regular Log In page using your temporary password. It will not work until you complete the invitation setup process and create your own password.

Joining Your Team
- Open the invitation link
- Enter the temporary password from the email
- Create a new password with at least 8 characters, including upper- and lowercase letters and a number.
- Confirm your password and accept the Terms of Service
Once submitted, your account setup is complete.

Logging In
After setting your password, you will be redirected to the login page. Log in using your email address and new password.
If 2-Factor Authentication is required by your organization, you may be asked to choose a verification method, such as an authenticator app or SMS.
Your First Login
On your first login, you can begin working in Notehouse right away, based on the role and permissions assigned by your administrator.
Your access is based on the role assigned by your Administrator or Owner. If you have questions about permissions, check with your Administrator or Owner directly.
Troubleshooting
If you’re having trouble joining an organization after being invited, please note the following:
1. Temporary Passwords Expire.
The temporary password included in your invitation email is only valid for a short period of time and will expire in 7 days. If you did not complete the initial verification when the invitation was first sent, the temporary password will no longer work.
In this case, you will need to ask your Administrator or Owner to resend the invitation. See Managing Invitations.
2. “Forgot Password” Will Not Work Until Your Account is Verified
If you have not completed the verification process using your temporary password, your account is not fully active yet. Verifying your account to join your organization is different from logging in.
You must complete the initial verification step before you can use “Forgot Password.”
Attempting to reset your password before verifying your account may lock you out of your account.
3. You Cannot Log In Until Your Account is Verified
Your temporary password is only used to complete the invitation setup process. It is not used to log in from the regular Log In page.
To join your team, open the invitation email and click Join Team. Use the temporary password there to verify your account and create your own password.
After setup is complete, you can log in from the regular Log In page using your email address and new password.
4. I Created My Own Account and Can’t Join My Organization
If you signed up for your own individual Notehouse account instead of using your organization invitation, your email address may already be connected to a separate account.
To join your organization, you will need to delete the individual account first. After the account has been deleted, your Administrator or Owner can send you a new invitation to join the organization.
If you cannot delete your organization, reach out to support@getnotehouse.com for assistance. This process takes a couple of business days for support to resolve, so there may be a delay in your ability to join your organization.
