Viewing and Previewing Attachments

Once files are attached to client notes, you can view them directly in Notehouse without downloading them. This guide shows you how to find attachments, preview files in the built-in viewer, and download them when you need a local copy.

Previewing files is ideal for quick reference. If you need to edit, share, or print a document, downloading gives you a copy to work with outside Notehouse.

Finding Attachments

Attachments live inside client notes.

1. Open the client record.
2. Scroll to the notes section.
3. Look for notes with an attachment icon or file count, or check the Attached Files section on the left side.

Any note showing an attachment indicator contains one or more files.

Previewing Files

Many attachments can be previewed directly in Notehouse.

1. Open the note containing the attachment.
2. Click the file name.
3. The file opens in the preview viewer.
4. Navigate pages or zoom as needed.
5. Close the viewer when finished.

Preview tools may include zoom controls, page navigation for PDFs, and full-screen viewing.

Downloading Files

Download attachments when you need to work with them outside Notehouse.

1. Open the attachment preview or locate the file.
2. Click the Download option.
3. The file downloads to your computer as a .DOCX file.

Downloading is useful if you need to edit the document, share it externally, print it, or access it offline.

Viewing All Attached Files

If a client has many uploaded files, the Attached Files section may show files across multiple pages.

The most recent files will appear first. To view older files, use the page controls at the bottom of the file list to move through each page.

1. Open the client record.
2. Go to the Attached Files section.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the file list.
4. Change Rows per page to show more files, such as 100.
5. Review the list of attached files.

If you do not see an older file right away, it may be on another page. Go to the next page to see if you can find your additional attached files. Changing the rows per page can make it easier to view more attachments at once.

Tip: If uploaded files appear to be missing, check whether the file list has multiple pages. Older files may not appear on the first page if the client has many attachments. Use the page controls or change Rows per page to view more files at once.

Supported Preview Formats

Some file types can be previewed in Notehouse, while others require download.

• PDFs and image files (JPG, PNG) are fully previewable.
• Text files can usually be previewed.
• Word and Excel files may need to be downloaded first.

If a file can’t be previewed, download it and open it using the appropriate application.

Note: Attachment preview performance may vary depending on file size, the number of attachments, your internet connection, browser, and device performance. If a file does not preview or takes a long time to load, try downloading the file, refreshing the page, updating your browser, or using a different device or internet connection.
